Radio Talsi: Four Streams, One Small Latvian Town

Talsi is one of the oldest towns in Latvia, tucked into the Kurzeme region and built, according to local lore, across nine hills. It isn't a media capital — no press office, no corporate backing. What it has is a one-page website, radio.kuums.lv, run by someone signing off simply as "Daumants," under the tagline "Mūzika tieši Tev" — Latvian for "Music, just for you." Instead of one channel, the project splits into four: Electronic, Future, Lounge, and Misc.

All four share the same broad genre tag on RadioBrowser — dance & electronic — and stream at a clean 320kbps, sharper than most entries in Kalisha's catalog. Electronic is the flagship: straightforward club and dance material, running without interruption.

Future leans on the same electronic pulse but with newer, less settled material — the name reads more like an editorial promise than a fixed genre. Lounge slows things down for background listening, and Misc is the honest catch-all: whatever doesn't fit the other three ends up there. How strictly each channel actually sticks to its lane isn't documented anywhere public — this is a one-person operation, not a labeled record store, so in practice the borders blur.

What ties the four together is the town itself. There's no wiki page for the station, no history to dig up beyond a header reading "Talsi Powered by Daumants" and four stream links. It exists because someone in a small Latvian town wanted it to — and that's reason enough to keep it in the catalog.
