Seven New Stations Worth Your Time Today

Every day I scroll through whatever landed in Kalisha's catalog over the last 24 hours. Nine times out of ten it's technical clutter — the same American NPR channel showing up again under a different HD subchannel, or a mirror stream with a slightly different bitrate that nobody asked for. But today I got lucky: seven stations came through that are actually worth your time, and a couple of them have real stories behind the stream.

1. Boards of Canada 24/7 Radio (USA) — and this one genuinely made me happy. It's a round-the-clock stream built entirely around the Scottish duo Boards of Canada — downtempo and IDM legends who've been quietly shaping the genre since the early '90s, all hazy synths and tape-warped nostalgia. Someone just decided the world needed a station that plays nothing else. I get it. Respect for that kind of obsession — this is exactly the sort of niche, lovingly-curated stream that a directory of 50,000 stations should have room for.

2. Al Toque Radio FM 101.9 (Río Cuarto, Argentina) — this one isn't really about the music, it's about the people behind it. It's run by a worker's cooperative, on air since February 2020, and built around serious local journalism rather than a playlist. Three flagship shows, plus a relay from the well-known AM 750 network. Not the most obvious pick for a music app, honestly, but it's a good story and it earned its spot.

3. Radio Manbassa (Italy) — logged into our database with a typo, \"Mambassa,\" but don't let that fool you. This is an old-timer, broadcasting since the '90s out of Puglia, in Italy's south — Lecce, Bari, Salento, on several frequencies at once. Nothing groundbreaking here, just solid, dependable Italian and international pop that's simply kept working for three decades. Sometimes that consistency is the best recommendation there is.

4. Aconcagua Radio (Mendoza, Argentina) — this one caught me off guard, in a good way. It only went on air in April 2025, a genuinely brand-new project from the newspaper Los Andes and the Medios Andinos group, named after Aconcagua — the tallest peak in the Americas, which happens to sit right in that province. \"La voz de Mendoza,\" they call it. Let's see where it grows.

5. Yu Eco Subotica 100.6 (Serbia) — an unexpected turn: this station has been broadcasting since 1993, and it was originally conceived with an environmental focus — the \"Eco\" in the name isn't decorative. These days it's a bit of everything: music, sport, news, business. You don't run into a station with that specific a backstory very often.

6. Takk-r (Budapest, Hungary) — honestly, I'll be upfront about this one: I couldn't find much beyond the fact that it's an independent internet station with an active social media presence. What it actually plays day to day remains a bit of a mystery to me. I'll let your ears make the call.

7. 3615 Radio (Paris, France) — closing the list, and this one I genuinely liked. An independent Parisian station running electronic and rock, named after the old four-digit dial codes from France's Minitel network — the pre-internet online service that six million French households used to reach through their TV terminals before it was finally switched off in 2012. For anyone who remembers typing \"3615\" to get online, this is a small, well-aimed nod to the past.

That's the list for today. New stations land in the catalog every day — most won't make the cut for a post like this, but the ones that do, you'll find here first.
