Seven New Stations: A Cult Gaming Radio and a Spanish Coastal Trio
Every day I go through whatever landed in Kalisha's catalog over the last 24 hours — 49 stations came in this time. Most of it, as always, is noise: local relays, duplicate subchannels, streams nobody would miss. Seven made the cut today, and this batch had an odd shape to it — three of the seven turned out to be from the same small Spanish city, without me planning it that way.
1. Rainwave OC ReMix (Canada) — this is the one I was genuinely excited to log. It's not really a new station so much as a small institution: part of the Rainwave.cc network built around OverClocked ReMix, the community that's been rearranging video game soundtracks into full original tracks since the early 2000s. Rob "LiquidRain" McAuley took over an earlier station called Ormgas in 2004 and turned it into Rainwave; by the summer of 2008 it had become OC ReMix's official radio. Two decades later it's still running, with separate streams for chiptunes and the full catalog. If you grew up on console soundtracks, this is close to a pilgrimage site.
2. esRadio Asturias (Spain) — not a local outfit at all, but the Asturian window of esRadio, a national Spanish network owned by Libertad Digital and on air since 2009. Oviedo and central Asturias get it on 93.2 FM, Gijón and Avilés on 105.2. Hosted nationally by Federico Jiménez Losantos and Luis Herrero, with a strong sports lean locally — live commentary on Sporting de Gijón and Real Oviedo matches.
3. Onda Avilés (Avilés, Spain) — a straightforward local FM at 89.4, playing pop and Top 40 alongside daily local news and talk. Modest by design, and the first of three stations in today's batch that all happen to come out of the same city.
4. La Bomba Radio (Avilés, Spain) — second from Avilés, built entirely around tropical rhythms: bachata, cumbia, reggaeton, salsa, running 24 hours on 104.1 FM. If Onda Avilés is the city's pop station, this is its dance floor.
5. Vacalloria Radio (Spain) — an independent internet station running under a Creative Commons license since 2014, with a mixed lineup that includes the talk show "La Cafetera." Sources disagree on which Spanish city it actually broadcasts from, so I won't guess.
6. RDF 102.7 (Italy) — the name and frequency line up closely with Radio Diffusione Firenze, one of the first free radio stations in Italy, on air out of Florence since 1975 and covering nine Tuscan provinces. I can't be fully certain it's the same station behind this particular stream, but the match is close enough to be worth mentioning.
7. Bruceli Rádio Web (Brazil) — the mystery entry of the day. Small, independent, and almost invisible outside its own stream — I couldn't turn up a history to tell you. Sometimes that's the appeal: a station nobody's written about yet.
That's today's seven. Three from one Spanish coastal city, one from a cult gaming-radio network that's been running since before most streaming apps existed — new stations land in the catalog every night, and most of them won't make a post like this. These did.
